Youth Summer Camp - Trekkers
The Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Youth Summer Camp is designed for children and teens ages 7–17 with a variety of abilities, offering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment throughout the summer. With a supportive 6:1 participant-to-staff ratio, the TR Youth Camp provides the structure, care, and fun of a traditional summer camp while encouraging independence, friendship, and personal growth. Depending on enrollment, campers may be grouped into a Juniors group (ages 7–13) and a Seniors group (ages 14–17) to better tailor activities to their age and interests.
TR caring staff are trained to assist with personal cares and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), offering the same support and compassion you would expect from a second family.
Campers enjoy a wide variety of activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and recreational development, including but not limited to:
- Swimming and beach days
- Arts & crafts
- Exercise and gym games
- Music and group games
- Park visits

- …and so much more!

In addition, campers have the option to sign up for special field trips at an additional cost. Past adventures have included:

Youth Summer Camp runs Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a summer filled with meaningful activities, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. This program takes place during the months of June through August.
Youth After School Program (Ages 7-17)
The TR Youth After School Program is designed for youth ages 7–17 who need a fun, safe, and engaging space after the school day. With a 6:1 participant-to-staff ratio, TR provides a supportive environment where participants can build friendships, explore new activities, and develop independence.
Participants will have the opportunity to hang out with peers, connect socially, and try a variety of activities, including games, crafts, recreation, and more. Transportation from school to RecPlex is required for attendance.
The After School Program runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants in this program may also be eligible to attend full program days (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) during winter break and spring break.
Weather and Program Cancellations
Weather Cancellations are posted to the
TR Facebook page no later than 1 hour before program opening. (6:00 a.m. weekdays and 8:00 a.m. Saturdays). A message is also sent via the TR Brightwheel App.
Getting Started
Before joining any of the TR programs or services, an assessment is required. This helps TR staff understand each participant’s needs, interests, and goals to provide the best possible experience.
Step 1: Complete our Interest Form.
Step 2: Once TR staff receive the form, a staff member will reach out to schedule an assessment.
Step 3: After the assessment, TR staff will work to find the right program for your child or family member.
