Construction has officially begun on the North Ball Field Turf Improvement Project at Prairie Springs Park. The $2.6 million project will deliver significant upgrades to the four youth baseball fields, improving playability and enhancing the overall experience for athletes, families, and visitors.
On August 11, the Village Board approved a contract with H&H Civil Construction LLC for $1.79 million to complete the project designed by Vierbicher Associates, Inc. The work includes grading, turf infield installation, new fencing, upgraded dugouts, shade structures, and backstop netting. Construction began in early September, with completion scheduled ahead of the spring recreational baseball programs and tournaments.
“Upgrading these fields ensures that Pleasant Prairie remains a strong destination for youth sports,” said Eric Rindfleisch, Village Administrator. “This investment will benefit athletes, families, and the community for years to come.”
The project will not use taxpayer funds. Financing includes $2 million in loans, repaid through rental revenue and sponsorships. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels, with packages tailored to branding and community engagement goals. Community contributions are still being accepted, with the Friends of Pleasant Prairie Parks Foundation assisting by collecting donations online from residents, businesses, and organizations. Additional information about the project, donations, and sponsorships is available at recplexonline.com/ballfieldproject.
These improvements address the ongoing drainage and erosion issues, reduce field maintenance needs, and expand the playable season. In addition, the project is expected to increase youth sports tourism, boost tournament attendance, and generate a positive economic impact through additional hotel stays, restaurant visits, and retail activity in Pleasant Prairie.
